June 23, 2017 RECOM TRIO STEP UP BUY-AND-BUILD STRATEGY

The founders of construction project management company Recom Solutions are stepping up their buy-and-build strategy as they seek to expand their range of services and enter new sectors.

Directors Jason McKnight and Joseph Dillon, who set up Recom in 2015, said they have been buoyed by the success of their first acquisition, a Liverpool-based building consultancy.

The deal saw the duo and Recom’s head of business operations Gemma Price – who joined the company in 2016 – buy Hardcastle & Hogarth, which has been operating across the north west for nearly 40 years.

Hardcastle & Hogarth is a six-strong practice which provides building surveying, quantity surveying, project management and design services to clients in sectors including social housing, supported living and student accommodation.

Its clients include Progress Housing Group, TAC Developments and Richmond Fellowship.

Mr McKnight said talks are under way with several other potential acquisition targets as the trio seek to develop a group of companies under the Recom banner.

“Our mission is to acquire established north west consultancies offering similar services to Recom but to a different client base, or to bolt on practices that provide construction professional services which complement our own.

“The successful purchase of Hardcastle & Hogarth is a yardstick for our acquisition strategy. Combined with continued organic growth, we are confident of becoming a growing force in the north west construction professional services market.”

Recom, which is based in Vanguard House, Salford Quays, has 10 staff and is on a recruitment drive in line with strong organic growth.

Its clients include the University of Manchester, Urban Village Bars and the Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Recom has also won a place on Manchester City Council’s Construction and Property Professional Services framework. It also works with independent retailers in areas such as Manchester’s Northern Quarter and MediaCityUK.

Mr McKnight said: “We have a proven track record of planning and managing projects to the highest standard, from the design phase through to completion.

“Our team of construction-trained experts enables us to look at where we can make savings in time and cost for our clients to add further value.”
