Design and build of a three-storey new build
extension to the existing grade II listed building at
323 Oxford Road. RECOM supported the design
team and University to develop the design, secure
planning, and listed building consent, tender and
appoint the main contractor and manage NEC
contract as NEC PM and NEC Supervisor.
What we did differently
RECOM managed the NEC contract between the
University and the contractor, also the stakeholder
engagement throughout the various University
departments. This required the Project Manager to
wear 2 hats, one to manage the NEC contract and
have an impartial relationship between the
Contractor and the Client. The other to work with
the design team and ensure the client’s interests
were maintained throughout the project, making
objective decisions that aligned with the client’s
goals, ensuring that conditions of the contract were
adhered to, managing change claims from the
contractor, and ensuring that the client’s position
was protected.
