Northern Care Alliance – Royal Oldham Hospital

Oldham

RECOM were appointed to undertake the Project Management role in ensuring the
compliance of The Royal Oldham Hospital’s passive fire protection, specifically
regarding the fire doors and fire stopping.

Our scope of works involved ensuring compliance of the main escape corridors to all
floors within the main hospital building. Many of the fire doors within the basement
and plant room had reached their end of their life and were no longer compliant with
current fire regulations. There were also no previous records of fire stopping being
carried out within the building.

Our services included:
▪ Conducting surveys to ascertain condition of fire stopping and fire doors
▪ Appointing a third-party accredited contractor with notable experience working in
a hospital environment to provide fire stopping and fire door expertise.
▪ Reviewing and confirming fire compartmentation plans with the Trust Fire Officers
▪ Carrying out the 3rd party accredited installation of 150 door sets
▪ Appropriately sealing and providing 3rd party certification for approximately 900
penetrations in fire compartments
▪ Compiled sign off certification with specialist software– Bolster

What We Did Differently
RECOM took a wholistic approach to delivery, engaging with Northern Care Alliance
to highlight any issues which were noticed when completing our works, so not to
